A Collection of tips and walkthroughs for everyone's FAVORITE part of the bike: The Carbs
Carb Tuning: Everyone's favorite chore!
.
Setting Float Levels: Really not much to is save for going at it from the "right angle".
.
Bench Synchronication: Mystery solved. Not as hard as you'd think.
.
Bowl vent/tube diagrams: Diagrams showing the bowl vents, gang tubes, and passages.
.
WTF is a Plug Chop???: The ONLY way to tell where your fuel to air ratio is at a given RPM. An indespensable part of tuining and jetting carbs to aftermarket rigs.
.
Carb Buying Tips: What to look for, watch out for, and run away from.
.
NOTE: The following three "tweaks" are to be attempted at your own risk and are intended for those more familiar with their machines.
.
Idle Screw Modification: Plugging the aftermarket idle screws to find that sweet spot between smooth rolloff and that steady even loping idle.
.
Boring the 77/78 Pilot Jets: Step by step on how to fatten up that annoyingly lean bottom end of the 77/78 PD series carbs that everyone loves to hate so much.
.
Repairing the 77/78 Accelerator Pump Valves: Those pesky clogged check valves conquered.
.
Note: Static and strobe timing is also included here as this is absolutely necessary along with proper valve adjustment when tuning and jetting carbs. Poor timing or valve leak can mimic fuel ratio problems that can't be corrected with carb tuining or jetting. Other hinderances would be poor compression or electrical problems in the ignition circuit and would have to be addressed as well.
